TODAY’S TEST QUESTION:

CORRECT ANSWER:

D) Ultrasound———transvaginal ultrasound is preferrred

  • The placenta provides nutrients, oxygen, and removes waste from the baby.
  • Usually the placenta is attached to either the top or side of the uterus.
  • In placenta previa, the placenta is attached either partially or completely covering the cervix. The cervix is the opening of the uterus (where the baby comes out).
  • This obviously creates a problem for delivery.
  • Also placenta previa can cause a lot bleeding during pregnancy and delivery. This puts the baby and the mother at risk.
  • These pregnancies usually need to be done by c-section.
