  • The classic triad of findings with this DX are –a sausage shaped mass which may be palpated on the abdomen, colicky abdomen pain, and currant jelly appearing stools.
  • Generally happens in infants 6-12 months.
  • It is very rare in adults but can happen.
  • Wilms tumor is a cancer that starts in the kidneys. An upper abdomen mass is one of the most common findings. It is usually painless and unilateral.
  • In pyloric stenosis an upper abdominal olive shape mass might be palpable. Usually in 3-6 week old infants (so younger than Intussusception). They also usually have projectile vomiting.
  • Appendicitis-this is not the typical age that this is seen. Usually with this there is right lower quadrant pain, fever, and leukocytosis
